AuroraWatch UK currently receives no direct funding for staff time. All of the team are volunteers and work on the project in their spare time. However, the team are all employed by Lancaster University’s Department of Physics and, as part of their contracts, are allocated a small percentage of their time for outreach activities.
Since its inception, the project has received various items of funding both in its own right and as part of its parent project SAMNET. AuroraWatch UK relies on these funding sources to both continue and improve this free service.
